Your Guide to Easter in Somerset

Easter is just around the corner, and no doubt you are already thinking about how you’ll spend those precious bank holidays.

All across Somerset, people are planning on getting into the full Easter spirit by putting on an array of Easter themed events. Have a read below to find out when and where these events are taking place so you can plan your perfect trip to Somerset.

Taunton

The beautiful country town of Taunton has plenty to offer. Why not start your trip off with an Easter trail around the picturesque Hestercombe Gardens. Your little ones will be able to follow the clues to find what the Easter bunny has left behind. There’s plenty of chocolate in store, and the opportunity to decorate an egg at the end!

If you don’t accidently fill up on chocolate, make your way into the Hestercombe Restaurant for a spot of Easter Afternoon Tea while you gaze out the window to admire the view of the Edwardian Gardens and Blackdown Hills.

Once you are well and truly fed, it’s time to head over to the Woodland Barn to take part in the Easter Basket Workshop. Make your own little eco-friendly Easter basked from recycled materials, you can even use your own favourite piece of material if you wanted.

Ilchester

You may be familiar with the Fleet Air Museum in Ilchester, but this April, you’ll get to experience it like never before with the ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’. Start your visit off with a trail around the museum and top it off with the Big Bunny Drop – design a parachute that will land your chocolate bunny safely on the emergency supplies drop zone!

Glastonbury

Head over to the iconic Glastonbury Abbey for their annual Easter Egg Trail, it’s a fun way to explore the fantastic history of the site with a chocolate prize at the end. If that doesn’t take your fancy, you’re sure to love the Glastonbury Medieval Fayre. This year’s event will feature jousting, battles, archery, living history and an abundance of entertainment and children’s activities.

Wells

It may not be very Easter themed, but if you’re in Wells why not visit the Bishops Palace and Gardens for a day of Medieval Falconry! Enjoy the fantastic flying displays and beautiful birds. You’ll learn how these birds would be used in Medieval times and marvel at their skill as they show off their well-honed moves in front of an audience.

All these events are taking place over the coming weeks, and there’s plenty to choose from to ensure you have a memorable Easter break. Of course, if you’re looking for a place to stay, Pennard Hill Farm has you covered! With easy reach of these Somerset destinations, it’s the perfect place to stay this Easter.
